NEET 2017: Counselling Process and Allotment of Seats
Role
of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is only limited to conduction of
NEET and preparation of Merit List based on All India Rank. Counselling for
admission into various medical and dental colleges of the country will be
conducted by counselling boards of different states and private medical
colleges. In this post, counselling process and allotment of seats after
declaration of NEET result has been discussed in detail.
As
you are aware, admission in all medical and dental colleges of the country will
now be carried out based on NEET result. There will be separate counselling for
15 percent All India Quota seats and 85 percent State Quota Seats. Candidates scoring
above cut-off marks will be called for counselling for 15 percent All
India Quota seats.
Counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats
After
the announcement of NEET 2017 result and cut-off, successful candidates will be
invited for online counselling. Based on All India Rank, CBSE will prepare a
Merit List and provide the same to DGHS (Directorate General of
Health Services). DGHS will conduct counselling for 15% All India Quota
MBBS and BDS seats. Seats in different Institutes will be allotted based on
rank in Merit List.
Counselling for seats other than 15% All India Quota
State
and Private medical colleges will conduct their own counselling based on NEET
result. CBSE will provide Merit List to all states and private medical colleges
for this purpose. Candidates who want to get admission in the medical or dental
colleges of their states need to apply for counselling on the respective
website. The details about these websites through which counselling in
different states will be conducted have been given in the NEET prospectus.
It is
important to note that admission in AIIMS (New Delhi) and its six
other branches will not be conducted through NEET. AIIMS will conduct its own
entrance exam for this purpose. Admission in BHU and AFMC will be
conducted through NEET.
