NEET 2017: CBSE Caps Number of Attempts to 3 in NEET
CBSE
has finally released the NEET UG 2017 application form on its official
website i.e. www.cbseneet.nic.in. Candidates
can fill examination form till 1st March 2017. As per the
information bulletin, several changes have been made in the NEET this time. One
major change is the introduction of capping on number of attempts in the
medical entrance exam. It means that now a candidate can appear in NEET only
3 times and his age should be between 17 to 25 years (30 for
reserved category students).
What
makes the above eligibility criteria more harsh is that now candidates who
have already appeared in AIPMT or NEET for three or more times, cannot
participate in NEET 2017. Earlier, there was no such capping on number of
attempts and hence medical aspirants used to appear in AIPMT every year. Even
for the reserved category candidates, number of attempts is same with age
relaxation of 5 years.
Due
to historic verdict of the Supreme Court of India, NEET made a comeback
last year and it will be operational at full scale from this year onwards.
Admission in all Medical Colleges except AIIMS, will take place
according to NEET result. Now, candidates who have already appeared in AIPMT or
NEET thrice will have no other option but to abort their dream of becoming
doctor.
There
are tens of thousands of students who could not crack AIPMT/NEET in
their previous three or more attempts and were preparing for NEET 2017. This
decision is more painful for them. Now these students are complaining that CBSE
should have informed them about it earlier. Their preparation is already in
final stage. This decision will only spoil their one more year. Some are
requesting central government to intervene in this matter.
MBBS
and BDS seats are already fewer in number as compared to number of aspirants
for it. The latest decision will make NEET more difficult as compared to that
of AIPMT. Because, now one will get only three chances to crack this prestigious
medical entrance examination.
