Who can appear in NEET Phase 2?

The Supreme Court of India has ordered CBSE to conduct NEET 2016 in two phases for admission into various Medical and Dental Colleges of India. As per the order of the apex court of India, AIPMT 2016 will now be considered as the first phase of NEET which was conducted on 1st May. Central and many state governments had earlier requested the court to postpone NEET for one year. But, the Supreme Court didn’t accept their plea and has ordered to impose NEET for the academic session 2016-17.

In its historic judgement, the apex court also ordered the private Medical Colleges of the country to follow NEET for taking admissions in their colleges. On 9th May, Supreme Court made it clear that states must follow NEET for preparing Merit list in respective Colleges. As a result states like Jharkhand and Bihar who were earlier not part of AIPMT, declared that they will follow NEET for admission into Medical Colleges of the state.

Interestingly, Bihar had earlier conducted the first phase of BCECE-2016 and was going to conduct the second phase on 15th May. JCECEB was accepting online application form for the JCECE-2016. But, after the judgement Jharkhand stopped accepting the form for the MBBS and BDS courses. Other states will also follow NEET after the latest verdict.

Who can appear in NEET Phase 2?

Earlier the apex court and the CBSE told that only those students can appear in the second phase of NEET who didn’t apply for AIPMT. Many students who filled the application form for AIPMT 2016 and did not appear in the exam were earlier restricted by the board to apply for the exam again. But, latest verdict of the top court of the country has good news for many students. Let us see, who can appear in NEET Phase 2?

1)    Students who had not applied for AIPMT 2016 earlier, will be allowed to appear in NEET Phase 2

2)    Students who filled the AIPMT 2016 form but did not appear in the exam can appear in the upcoming exam

3)    Students who appeared in AIPMT 2016 and are not satisfied with their performance can sit in the second phase of NEET provided they give up their candidature of the earlier exam

Supreme Court has taken this decision to satisfy all students, especially those who were complaining that they were not ready for NEET and were preparing for their respective state medical exams. CBSE has been asked to conduct the 2nd phase of NEET on 24 July 2016. The board will soon release the application form for the upcoming Medical Exam.
