How to Prepare for Jharkhand Medical Exam?
As you are familiar with,
Jharkhand is no more the member of AIPMT. And hence, state conducts its own
medical entrance examination for filling 85 percent state quota seats.
Currently, there are 350 medical seats in the three government
medical colleges of the state. Hence, there is fierce competition for every
seat. If you want to grab one of those seats, then your preparation should be
better; if not best. How to prepare for Jharkhand Medical Exam?
Before appearing in the
competitive exam, it must be clear to you that you are up for some challenge
here. JCECEB conducts Jharkhand Medical Exam or JCECE (PCB) every
year for 388 seats. Don’t get too excited, 100 seats are for dental college. It
means only 288 seats can be filled through state medical exam. Rest MBBS
seats are filled through AIPMT.
Question Paper
Pattern of Jharkhand Medical Exam or JCECE (PCB)
In the Jharkhand medical entrance
examination, questions are generally based on NCERT. It doesn’t mean, it
is entirely based on this book. Many questions will not be from NCERT. There is
prescribed syllabus for the exam. And if want to solve all questions, you must
read from reference books too.
The level of questions in
this exam is highly variable. Some questions will be too easy, some will be
trickier and others will be time consuming. Don’t be scared. Question paper of
the JCECE is much easier as compared to that of AIPMT. In addition to numerical
problems, lots of theoretical questions are also asked in Physics; which
average medical students love.
There are 150 questions
asked in the Jharkhand medical exam or JCECE. 50 questions are asked
from Biology, Chemistry and Physics each.
One hour will be given for each subject. For each correct answer,
1-mark is awarded while 0.25 is deducted for incorrect response. Unlike
AIPMT, only 50 questions are asked in Biology in this exam. Hence, you
must score well in other two subjects too, in order to grab an MBBS seat.
Bile is secreted by
which gland? It was the question asked in the JCECE in
2015. Your mouth must be watering after seeing this question. Don’t get too
excited, answer another one. Name the family of Spirogyra. Well,
it was also asked last year. I am giving you these questions to show the level
of question paper. If you could answer both questions, JCECE is for you. If you
failed to answer second one, work hard.
Required marks
for grabbing an MBBS seat
Student who tops this exam,
generally scores 135 to 145 out of 150. If you are from General or OBC
category, your mark should be around 120 to grab an MBBS seat in state
medical college. Though, sometimes even 120 may fail to guarantee you a berth
due to fierce competition. Competition for ST category students is not too much,
you should try to get at least 40 percent though. In recent years, many seats
reserved for ST category students were not filled due to unavailability of
eligible candidates.
How to study
for Jharkhand Medical Examination or JCECE (PCB)?
Though lots of questions are
asked from NCERT in the Jharkhand medical entrance exam, you cannot solely depend
on this book. In 2015, Particularly in Biology, close to 15 questions were not
from NCERT. If you don’t want to miss those questions, then you must read
reference books too. In short, in order to attempt all 50 questions of Biology,
you must read NCERT and reference book together.
In Physics and Chemistry,
numerical problems are frequently asked. If you know the correct formula, you
can apply them directly. Organic Chemistry is very important.
Solve sample papers or mock
papers to sharpen your question solving skills. JCECE is easier to crack as
compared to AIPMT. But, due to lack of seats, competition is also high.
Work hard and you will succeed.
