How to Pass in Chemistry in CBSE Class 12 Board Exam?
Securing more than 95 marks in every subject of
Class 12 Board Exam
is a dream for every student. But, not many succeed in fulfilling
this dream. In CBSE Board Exam, students can easily score more than
90 percent by doing little bit of hard work. But, there are many
students who find themselves on the opposite end. For them, getting
passing marks i.e. 23 marks is the major priority.
How to pass in Chemistry in CBSE Class 12 Board Exam?
We will answer this question in this article.
Chemistry
is an important subject not only for the Board Exam but also for the
competitive exams. By doing minimum work, one can extract maximum
result (in terms of marks) from this subject.
This article is only for those students who are not well
prepared in Chemistry
and their Class 12 Board Exam is also not far away. In this
situation, don’t press the panic button yet and instead of taking
lots of stress, try to concentrate on your studies.
When your Class 12 Board Exam is not far away, you must pickup
selective chapters which are not only easier as compared to other
chapters; but can also fetch you more marks.
By studying prudently in this period, you can easily score more
than 30 out of 70 marks in theory. Chemistry is composed of three units i.e.
Physical Chemistry,
Inorganic Chemistry and
Organic Chemistry. Some
students face problems in Physical Chemistry, some in Organic
Chemistry while many students tend to face difficulty in all
department of this subject. In this situation, students start
thinking whether they would pass in the coming Board Exam or
not.
Recommended Books/Sample Papers for Class 12 Board Exams
List of recommended books and sample papers apart from NCERT have been given below. These books will help you in preparing NCERT properly and in quick revision of important topics at the last moment. Sample papers will improve your question solving skills and also give you an idea about the question paper pattern.
CBSE
is well known for awarding higher marks to students in the Class 12
Board Exam, provided copies have been filled with relevant or
acceptable answers. Only by studying, you can write your answers in
proper manner. So, instead of uprooting your hairs; start your
preparation from today onwards to get passing marks in Chemistry.
Follow below mentioned tips to achieve your first target i.e. to get
23 marks in Chemistry.
1)
Initially learn chapters like
Biomolecules and d- and f-Block Elements. Direct questions are asked from these two chapters and they carry 14
marks together. If you are unable to learn them, just go through Previous 10 Year Papers. But, if you have sufficient time, just look to finish these two chapters.
2)
Physical Chemistry: Look to cover
Solution at all cost. It is probably the easiest chapter in physical chemistry and carries 7 marks now.
3)
Inorganic Chemistry: After the exclusion of p-Block from the syllabus, d-Block has become even more important. Coordination Compounds and d-block carry 7-7 marks each. Though it is advisable
to prepare them from
NCERT. But, if your
exams are just few weeks away, you may take help of some
sidebooks. Study MCQs and previous year questions from
them and you will start feeling confident about your preparation.
4)
Organic Chemistry: “Haloalkanes and Haloarenes” is the easiest chapter in the Organic chemistry. Look to complete
it thoroughly and then go on to remember some famous and frequently asked
organic reactions (from Alcohol and Aldehyde, Ketone & Carboxylic Acids Chapter) which have been mentioned in the article “How to Prepare Chemistry for Class 12 Board Exam?”.
I
could have suggested some important topics instead of chapters. I have
refrained from it as it will make you even more vulnerable. When you
prepare selective topics only, you require really good luck to get all
questions asked from only those topics. Hence, look to prepare few
chapters but cover them thoroughly.
If you are not able to read above mentioned chapters from NCERT, buy a "Solved Previous 10 Year Papers". And try to practice all those questions by writing them multiple times. CBSE often repeats previously asked questions and if you could get complete command over previous 10 year question papers, you will easily score above passing marks in the upcoming board exam.
Solving previous 10-year-paper is a "Brahmastra" and nobody should dare to ignore it. By simply going through those questions, you will be in a position to identify important topics and questions from each chapter.
By following above mentioned tips, you will definitely pass in Chemistry. CBSE has significantly reduced chemistry syllabus (just 10 chapters) now. With proper strategy, preparation and hard work, you can excel in this subject.
sir,i have completed 2nd chem and half of the 1st part please give me names of some very important topics from 1st book i really need your help only 1.5 months are left in examination
ReplyDeleteInstead of learning important topics, try to complete important chapters. Coordination compound, p and d-block elements and surface chemistry are equally important ones along with the physical chemistry.
DeleteGo through the last 5 years question paper to get an idea about important topics and look to complete them first if you cannot complete chapters in one and half month.
sir I am very nervous for 12th board exam. I am very bad in chemistry how to prepare for pass Marks in chemistry...
ReplyDeleteJwala, go through above article. I have mentioned some important chapters. Just go through them first. Important topics from organic chemistry have been given in another post "How to prepare chemistry for class 12 board exam?", please read it.

DeleteSir,
ReplyDeleteDoes selectively studying some chapters will help me to score 40+/70 in Boards?
I am really scared
if yes
Deletethen please mention those chapters
Yes that will help but must ensure that you are covering all important chapters. You should select those chapters by yourself in which you are comfortable. p-block, d-block, surface chemistry and coordination compounds carry above 20 marks and you should start learning them from today itself. The last 3 chapters- Biomolecules, Polymers and Chemistry in everyday life, which are often ignored carry 10 marks. Solve last 10 year question papers. Prepare from NCERT book, you will surely do well.
DeleteSir, How to study the chapter polymers?
ReplyDeletewhat are the important areas
In this chapter you need to learn a lot. I will suggest you to go through the last 10 years question papers and it will give you an idea about the important questions from this chapter.
DeleteSir,will memorising intext questions of organic chapters will help me to pass? sir please help me.. i dont even have much time for exams.
ReplyDeleteOnly doing intext questions will not do the magic. Instead learn all organic reactions properly and you can do well in this section. Still you have enough time, don't get nervous. Learn organic reactions by writing them and revise them frequently to avoid forgetting them.
DeleteThank you sir! I hv got 35 out of 70 because of ur help... it was really help full..
DeleteCongrats Sayed on your success. Your words were really encouraging for us. Best of luck for future.
DeleteSir I got 23 marks in theory and 30 in practical is am pass
ReplyDeleteYes, you've passed in your paper. 23 marks is the passing marks in theory papers of 70 marks.
DeleteSir,
ReplyDeleteHow many (years)previous years papers should I go through for getting good marks?
If you have time then look to solve previous 10 year question papers.
DeleteWhich are the imp. areas in the chapter p block
ReplyDeleteIt is a very vast chapter but important one. If you don't have time then prepare through notes. Hybridisation, preparation and structure of different compounds are often asked. Go through last 10 years question papers, it will surely help you in identifying important topics from this chapter.
DeleteI don't know c of chemistry plz plz help me which is the best book this syllabus in 1 month plz reply
ReplyDeleteXam idea will be ideal for your last moment preparation. Now you should look to prepare p and d block elements through notes. Biomolecules, Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday life carry 10 marks together, complete them also. Even in one month you can secure good marks in this subject. Go through last 10 year question papers.
DeleteTo what extent derivations are prominent in class 12 chem papers?
ReplyDeleteDerivations are not frequently asked in class 12 chemistry board exam
Deleteyaa sir i am very weak chemistry but i have seen this article i will follow it but i have one question what if we prepare 6 sample paper 2017 board exam from mycbseguide..
ReplyDeleteYou can solve sample papers, it will only sharpen your preparation. But don't depend entirely on it, you need to give attention to NCERT as well.
Deletesir plz i need ur help
ReplyDeletei am actually very bad in chemistry can u plz help me and i am not having enough time cuz boards will start from 9th

ReplyDeleteLast 10 year questions will help you a lot. But, still you have enough time to prepare well for the upcoming exams, hence, don't look to get just passing marks. Start solving sample papers and prepare with NCERT books only. You will get desired marks.
DeleteActually sir ... i get good marks in english this year 70 marks i gout i eng &p.h.e me 28 .. bio me 18...p &chem me 5 marks... so sir meh bhute darr gya hun... i just want to get passing marks in chem & physics ... last 5 year question paper of cbse if is it sufficent to get passing marks in phy. and chem 2018 boards exams... plzz tell me yes or no... bio meh achi tarh se padh rha hun me.... bs mjhe phy & chem me pass hona hai... i m very weak in phy & chem.... plzzz tell me.... nd thanku so much for replying me.... kisi site ne mera reply nhi kiya but apne kiye... tysm ritesh jii.... tysm .... plzzz tell last 5 year question paper is enough to get 23 marks in phy. and chem plzz sirrr..... plzzz reply... yes or no
ReplyDelete...
Devesh, last 5 years papers will surely help you a lot in identifying important questions. But, I will never suggest you to completely depend on them. In addition, also solve sample papers regularly and then you will succeed. If you are weak in numericals then focus more on Optics and Modern Physics. In Chemistry, we have mentioned some important topics from organic portion in our another post "How to Prepare Chemistry for Class 12 Board Exams?". Go through them. You have sufficient time and hence I am not suggesting you to depend entirely on last 5 years papers.
DeleteSir only 2 months are remaining in board exams 2018 and I have not started preparing chemistry sir please tell me that where to start in chemistry to get atleast passing marks upto 30 I am studying physics but I don't know how to prepare chemistry I go to coaching but didn't understand the chapters clearly there and don't understand ncert language well and don't have notes please help sir
ReplyDeleteStart from easier ones. The last three chapters, surface chemistry and then move towards inorganic and organic sections, if you find physical chemistry tough. Solve previous year papers.
