JEE Main 2016: Exam Pattern, Eligibility and Number of Attempts

Main 2016 Exam Pattern
JEE Main 2016 will have
two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Paper-1 will be conducted
for B.E./B.
Tech. while Paper-2 will be conducted for the courses like B.Arch./B.
Planning. One can appear in Paper-1, either through offline or pen
& paper based exam or through online or computer based exam.
These choices are available only for the first paper. Candidates appearing in
Paper-2 can only opt for the offline or pen & paper based exam. Depending
on their choices, candidates can appear in either Paper-1 or Paper-2 or in both
papers.
In Paper-1 for B.E./ B.
Tech. course, objective questions with equal weightage will be asked from all
three subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
In Paper-2 for B. Arch/
B. Planning, objective questions will be asked from Mathematics- Part 1 and Aptitude
Test- Part 2. Questions from Drawing Test- Part 3 will test the
drawing skills of the candidates.
The score of Paper-1
would be declared till 27th April 2016
and it will also comprise the status of candidates qualifying for the JEE
Advanced 2016. Based on JEE Main 2016 score and normalized score of
class 12, separate merit list will be prepared for admission into various
institutions of the country except IITs.
Final merit list will be declared till 30 June 2016. Candidates can
download their rank letter from the official website of JEE Main 2016.
Eligibility
Criteria for JEE Main 2016
1)
Candidates with their date
of birth on or after 1 October 1991 are eligible to
appear in the exam. This age limit has been relaxed by 5 years for the SC,
ST and PwD candidates.
2)
Those candidates who have passed class
12 board exams in the year 2014 or 2015 are eligible to appear in the
JEE Main 2016. Candidates who are appearing in the class 12 board exams in 2016
are also eligible to appear in the exam.
3)
Candidates who passed their class 12
board exam in 2013 are not allowed to sit in the exam. Those who failed in
board exams in 2013 but passed in class 12 board exams in 2014 are also not
eligible to appear in the JEE Main 2016.
4)
Candidates appearing in JEE Main 2016 must
pass class 12 board exams with at least 5 subjects. Those who have passed class
12 board exams with 4 subjects are not allowed to sit in the examination.
5)
For candidates from Madhya Pradesh,
Maharashtra and Odisha, age limit should be applicable as per the rules laid
down by the respective states.
Number
of Attempts in JEE Main
There are only three
allowed number of attempts in JEE Main. It means, a
candidate can appear in JEE Main for only three times. Before filling JEE Main
Application form, one should ensure that he or she is eligible to appear in the
examination. For the candidates from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh,
Nagaland and Odisha, number of attempts are applicable as per the rules
of the respective states.
