MCI restored 200 Medical Seats in Chhattisgarh

Medical Council of India (MCI) has taken severe actions against many Medical Colleges of India where they found lack of infrastructure or faculties. In West Bengal MCI had reduced almost 50 percent of Medical Seats this year but after receiving an undertaking from the state government all seats were restored later. Many Medical Colleges have received official warning from the MCI for improving the facilities and infrastructure in the colleges.

Recently MCI restored 200 Medical Seats in Chhattisgarh which were deducted by them just few weeks back due to lack of proper infrastructure. Chhattisgarh has not only gained lost MBBS seats, MCI has also given a special gift to the thousands of Medical aspirants in the state. MCI has approved new Rajnandgaon Medical College in the state and now this Medical College has 100 Medical Seats. As a result the total number of Medical Seats in Chhattisgarh has now been raised from 450 to 550.

MCI had reduced 200 Medical Seats in Chhattisgarh last month. During their recent investigation MCI had found that many government Medical Colleges of the state were lacking good infrastructure and adequate faculties. Hence 50 MBBS seats were reduced from all four Medical Colleges of Chhattisgarh. Earlier 450 Medical Seats were available in the four government Medical Colleges of the state. But after this reduction only 250 Medical Seats were remaining in Chhattisgarh

MCI had deducted 50 Medical Seats each in Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh and Jagdalpur Medical Colleges of Chhattisgarh. Earlier in Raigarh only 50 MBBS seats were present and after the action of MCI it had lost the status of Medical College. In Jagdalpur Medical College only 50 seats were remaining while Raipur and Bilaspur Medical Colleges were having 100 MBBS seats each after the reduction of Medical Seats in the state.

After receiving undertaking from Chhattisgarh government for improving infrastructure and facilities in these Medical Colleges, MCI has reversed its decision. Union Health Ministry has also played a key role in the restoration of Medical Seats in Chhattisgarh. This decision will surely benefit many students who are aspiring to go in the medical profession.
