MBBS and BDS Seats in Jharkhand under State Quota | JCECEB NEET UG Counselling 2024

Being a medical aspirant from the state of Jharkhand is not that easy. The mineral-rich state was created in 2000 by bifurcating the state of Bihar. Till 2020, the state had seen more than 5 CMs heading the state government but during the same 2-decade-long saga, not a single government medical college started functioning at full scale. Much water has flown under the Subarnarekha. Jharkhand has now new AIIMS, 3 new government and couple of new private medical colleges. Let us take a look at MBBS and BDS seat in Jharkhand under state quota.

Government Medical Colleges in Jharkhand

Two decades since its creation, Jharkhand had only 3 government medical colleges. RIMS Ranchi, MGM Jamshedpur and PMCH Dhanbad which is now known as SNMMC (Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College).

Good news is that since 2021, three new government medical colleges have also started inducting students in UG medicine courses. These colleges are MMCH Palamu, PJMCH Dumka and SBMC Hazaribagh. Students in these 3 colleges were admitted in the year 2019 after receiving permission of the Supreme Court of India. But, in 2020 they were again barred from inducting new students due to lack of infrastructure.
